VISION AND HEARING
SCREENING
FOR SCHOOLS
LOCATION - you provide the space. Parents appreciate the convenience of having screening done, while their child(ren) are at school. There is no cost to the school; screening is parent-paid and entirely optional.

SEAMLESS DISRUPTION - during our visit, Technicians will minimize any interruption to the usual school day. We will work with you to choose a screening date(s) that does not overlap with field trips, assemblies or planned assessment days.

MEANINGFUL RESULTS - Teachers receive a copy of the results form, sent home to parents with recommendations highlighted. Principals will receive a results summary, that lists all students in need of follow-up and highlights deficiencies of greatest concern. Technicians will review the summary with Principals to explain the meaning of the findings, and to discuss next steps.
We will be happy to screen students for whom teachers have a concern (parental permission must be given in advance).
FOR PARENTS
CONVENIENCE - Our screening is carried out at your child(ren’s) school during the regular school day, under the supervision of school staff and our professional Technicians.

FEE AND RESULTS - $20.00 fee. Your child will be screened for vision (distance, eye movement) and hearing (audiometry, tympanometry). You will receive personalized results and a copy will be provided to the teacher, to remain with the student’s school record.

Fun, non-invasive methods. Our Technicians are trained and experienced in knowing how to make a child feel comfortable and eager to participate. Our method of screening is presented as friendly games, appropriate for children ages 3 and up.
COVID19
prevention & control
Technicians will follow any changing guidelines for COVID-19 infection prevention and control (IPC) protocols, and will self-screen before entering schools.

Technicians may be required to wear a mask/face covering at all times while in the school.
Look Hear will continually self audit COVID-19 procedures to meet or exceed provincial guidelines.

Look Hear has been a valued service provider to school boards in Ontario, childcare centres and other clients such as, Peel Regional Police and CN Rail for the past 26 years. Our technicians combined, have over 40 years experience screening school age children for vision and hearing. We have referred hundreds of students to specialists which have resulted in a better learning future.
Vision and Hearing screening is our way of guiding a child to achieve their learning potential in a fun, non-judgemental way. We provide parents with the results needed to pursue further testing/diagnosis with the appropriate professionals, and to communicate with their child’s teacher.

We have witnessed first hand the struggles experienced by children in a learning environment and how they respond to that. Our program has allowed us to develop a strong sense of community between technicians and our schools. We love what we do!
